Areas

Where to live on the Costa Blanca

Six areas I work in most, from city life in Alicante to quiet golf and beach towns in the south. Drive times are to Alicante-Elche airport.

Alicante city centre

  • ALC about 20 min
  • Beach Postiguet, in the centre
  • Year-round life yes

Apartments in the Ensanche, the old town and around the Mercado Central. Everything on foot: the Explanada, restaurants, the tram and the train. Suits buyers who want a real Spanish city all year, not a resort.

Playa de San Juan and Albufereta

  • ALC about 25 min
  • Beach 7 km of sand at San Juan
  • Tram to the centre

Modern apartment buildings with pools along a long sandy beach, popular with families and Nordic buyers. Many services stay open all year, and the tram takes you to the centre.

El Campello

  • ALC about 30 min
  • Beach town beach and rocky coves
  • Tram to Alicante

A fishing town with a seafront promenade, plus hillside villas in areas like Coveta Fumà with sea views. Quieter than Alicante but connected by tram.

Santa Pola

  • ALC about 15 min
  • Beach sandy beaches and the salt lakes
  • Boat to Tabarca island

The closest beach town to the airport, with a fishing port, salt flats with flamingos and good-value apartments. Popular with buyers who fly often.

Torrevieja

  • ALC about 35–40 min
  • Beach town beaches and coves
  • Community large international

A large, very international town with the widest choice of apartments and lower entry prices. Lots of services in many languages.

Orihuela Costa

  • ALC about 40–45 min
  • Beach coves and Blue Flag beaches
  • Golf several courses nearby

Urbanisations with pools, golf courses and coves, built mostly for holiday and retirement living. Quiet in winter, busy in summer.
